The NREMT Paramedic Cognitive Exam is a computer adaptive test (CAT). The CAT will administer a minimum of 80 and a maximum of 150 items. The exam will conclude when the candidate has demonstrated a competency level above the passing standard or when the candidate has demonstrated a competency level below the passing standard, regardless of the number of items administered. The exam will also conclude when the maximum number of items has been administered.
